Myofascial Release Therapy and Back Pain.

Myofascial Release (MFR) therapy is a hands-on treatment that can help with back pain by releasing muscles and joints around the spine and pelvis. It can be an effective treatment for chronic lumbar back pain and can greatly help with posture problems.

Here's how MFR works

The therapist applies gentle pressure to find trigger points which is the tight knotty tissue in the myofascia, the connective, sticky, web like tissue that surrounds all of our muscles, bones, organs and other tissues. The therapist then stretches and compresses the myofascia to help it regain elasticity and move more freely. The therapist may also use a muscle blading tool which helps to release more stubborn myofascia and again is a relatively gentle form of therapy.  MFR can help with back pain, as well as other conditions that cause pain or tightness in the muscles and soft tissues, such as shoulder, hip, or neck pain. It can also help with conditions like fibromyalgia, migraines, scoliosis and sciatica.
