As a sole trader I fully appreciate that going for a sports or deep tissue massage is something that alot of people simply can't afford or it comes quite a way down the list of priorities.

However, I do also believe that periodical treatments are an important part of physical health, especially in a world where so many jobs are sedentary. More & more people work at desks, either in offices or at home (sometimes even on the laptop on the sofa) plus more & more people drive for long periods. Physical therapy should be an integral part of any medium to large business' wellness programme.

In 2022 over 185 million work days were lost to sickness and injuries with 10% of work days being lost due to musculoskeletal (MSK) problems alone (ONS) . Of the professionals that I see, most are either Administrative, Carers or people who work in Elementary occupations which are towards the top of the list as far as days absent through sickness or injury.

So, how do we combat the affordability against the ever growing list of statistics?

Alot of medium to large companies now have established Health & Wellness insurance programmes. Included in many of these policies is a Physical Therapy entitlement.

This is where I come in. I can provide either 'in house' days where i come to the office & treat a certain number of workers each day. Or, alternatively, an individual can come to my practice where I can provide a receipt

/invoice so that they can then be reimbursed for the treatment by the insurer.

Remember that physical ailments and injuries shouldn't be something that you just have to live with.

Don't forget to read your policy first to see if there's a physical therapy entitlement.
